SBP amends guidelines for freight forwarders

According to the note released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), it has issued its guidelines for freight forwarders, which some exporters claim, give rise to the theft of export consignments.

Moreover, the central bank said that the name of the real owner of the goods will appear in trade documents along with that of freight forwarder, transferring goods from one place to another.

It said, “The master bill of lading, issued in name of the freight forwarders will now carry the name of exporters and details of the export consignment.”

IMF wants Pak to peg fiscal deficit at 5.1pc

According to the statement said by an official of the Finance Ministry, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), likely to approve $1.2 billion loan for Pakistan during a board meeting to be held on May 3, wants Islamabad to peg the fiscal deficit at 5.1 per cent of the GDP.

Further, the regional head of the IMF for South Asia, during his meeting with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on April 13 in Washington, guaranteed him that the IMF Board in its meeting would grant the release of the fifth trance for the country under a standby arrangement of $11.3 billion.

Agriculture sector projects bags Rs22.5 million loan

The Appraisal Panel of Agribusiness Support Fund (ASF) has sanctioned funding for projects worth Rs 22.5 million for different Agribusiness Sector Small and Medium Enterprises (SME).

As per the statement released by ASF, “The Panel has approved these grants in its 22nd meeting held at Lahore today.”

General Tyre starts production

The General Tyre and Rubber Company of Pakistan Ltd. has recently announced that it has resumed the production of tyres after its labor union has called off the strike.

The company had faced a complete shut-down of activities for three weeks, and now it will try its level best to win back the customer confidence, and get back on the track after suffering big losses.

Cotton remains stable amid dull buying activity

According to the statement given by dealer, the spot rate at Karachi Cotton Exchange for grade-three cotton remained unaltered at Rs 5, 700 per maund on Wednesday amid dull buying.

Further, the trader added that just 500 bales of Vehari exchanged hands for Rs 5, 725 per maund.

Moreover, some experts said that there was almost no cotton in the market and there was expectation for the closure of mills for some time.

Some spinning mills would be closed partially, a dealer said.

Chances for investment exist at RAKFTZ

As per the recent statement released by the Business Development manager of the Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone (RAKFTZ), Ms. A Niloofar, good chances exist for the Pakistanis for business as well as investments at the RAKFTZ.

Afridi is right man to lead Pakistan, says Mushtaq

The captain of Pakistan's squad for the World Twenty20 Shahid Afridi was fined by the PCB for ball-tampering in a one-day match against Australia in Perth in February this year, even though he appealed this week saying it was injustice to ban him twice after he was hit with a two games by the International Cricket Council.

Afridi, who is a known for his superb batting style as well as leg-spin bowling, helped Pakistan to win World Twenty20 in England in 2009.

Shoaib Malik files plea against PCB ban

In a recent report, the former captain of Pakistan cricket team, Shoaib Malik, said that he has submitted a plea against the sanctions imposed on him by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in the aftermath of Pakistan’s disastrous tour of Australia.

Moreover, PCB’s legal adviser Tafazzul Rizvi said, “Malik’s counsel Ahmed Hussain has sent his appeal against the fine and ban, and now an independent arbitrator will deal with the case.”
