The President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari will inaugurate the first gas-fired rental power plant of 51 megawatts at Naudero in District Larkana on Sunday.
Moreover, the federal government inked the deal for the rental power plant with Walter Power International on June 4, last year.
The plant is structured to work on gas turbine, generating units with 92 percent power availability factor. The plant has been assured 12mmcfd gas for five years via PEPCO’s Generation Company II, while an SSGC gas transmission pipeline has been joined to this power plant. A 132 KV transmission line connects the rental power plant with the national grid.
The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet sanctioned the project at its meeting held on August 21, 2009.
Walter Power International’s 51MW Rental Power Plant at Naudero-1 has been set up at a cost of $91.65 million. This project will not only promote PEPCO’s power generation output, but also play a leading role in economic development in the area.
The plant will be upgraded by the addition of another 50MW, which would help improve power shortage in sizeable areas of Sindh.
The plant has been completed in a record six-month time, providing 100 jobs for people of the area.
