In a recent report, the former captain of Pakistan cricket team, Shoaib Malik, said that he has submitted a plea against the sanctions imposed on him by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in the aftermath of Pakistan’s disastrous tour of Australia.
Moreover, PCB’s legal adviser Tafazzul Rizvi said, “Malik’s counsel Ahmed Hussain has sent his appeal against the fine and ban, and now an independent arbitrator will deal with the case.”
Meanwhile, Shoaib Malik is presently in India for his marriage with Indian tennis player Sania Mirza. He was banned for one year and fined Rs 2 million for his role in inciting player unrest within the team.
On the other hand, Malik’s appeal comes a day after Younis Khan and Shahid Afridi filed their formal appeals in the court. However, the Akmal brothers and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan filed their appeals last week.
Further, Mr. Rizvi said, “Usually, in-house tribunal proceedings are never held in public, but it will be up to the arbitrator to regulate the procedure, which will be decided after the deadline of the appeal on April 16.”
Moreover, Shahid Afridi is the captain of the Pakistan team, for the forthcoming World Twenty20 competition in the West Indies, which also includes the Akmal brothers. (IANS)
