VISA, UBL to collaborate in banking facility to IDPs

Visa, a leading payment solution provider, and United Bank Limited (UBL) has recently announced that they inked a deal for deployment of electronic point of Sale (POS) machines at designated places in Northern regions like D. I khan, Murdan, Mingora, Batkhela and Peshawar.

According to the joint statement issued by the Amer Pasha Country Manager Visa and Atif Bokhari President and CEO UBL at the signing ceremony, around 200 POS machines offered by Visa as part of their corporate social responsibility plan will be organized all over UBL’s extensive merchant network allowing internally displaced persons from Swat and Malakand to utilize them to buy7 food supplies and items of daily use.

After the first distribution of around 404,675 visa cards under the program, NADRA and UBL extended card availability a total of 1.4 million families in the area.

On the other hand, UBL and Visa have installed point of sale terminals at retail stores offering convenient and ready access to cash to the IDPs.

While talking to media, Amer Pasha said, “Being a socially responsible company Visa is fully committed to the well being of every individual in every country where it operates.”

Further, Amer Pasha said, “By installing the POS terminals and providing IDPs with wallet visa debit cards in collaboration with UBL and NADRA, we have brought convenience to IDPs whilst ensuring safety of their funds.”
