The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has forwarded an adjournment motion in the Senate Secretariat, looking for debate on the impact of the shocking floods on the country’s financial system.
Moreover, the ex-Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar belonging to the PML-N transferred the motion in the parliament’s upper house.
In response of that the leading opposition party of the country had showed its worry over the present working of the national economy.
The motion is based on a note presented in The Express Tribune earlier this week.
While talking to media, a senior official from the department said that zero percent or no real growth in the gross domestic product (GDP) in 2010-11.
However, inflation is expected to grow almost 25 percent in the existing fiscal year, owing mainly to unprecedented floods.
Talking to media, Senator Ishaq Dar said that the situation was alarming, and the country looked to be going in the direction of a major economic catastrophe.
On the other hand, the statement of the motion said, “The situation warranted the Senate to undertake a threadbare discussion on the national economy so that a comprehensive strategy could be formulated to pull Pakistan out of a looming economic disaster.”
