According to recent reports, Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) has suffered another deficit of 1000 mega watts (MW) in its generation because of floods and suspension of gas supply to power stations.
While talking to media persons, Shafqat Jalil, Director General (Media) of PEPCO said that following high level of floods in Sindh region, the Zamzama Gas Field in Dadu district has suspended gas supply to several thermal gas power stations.
Moreover, the suspension of gas supply to power facilities has minimized the electricity generation by 1000 MW, which boosted load-shedding in the country.
On the power situation during the last 24 hours, Mr. Jalil added that the highest generation remained 13,748 MW against utmost demand of 16,721 MW, showing a loss of 29, 73 MW, and PEPCO exported a maximum of 750 MW to Karachi Electric Supply Corporation.
Talking to media, the director general added that the Hydel component appended 6,481 WM, thermal 1994 MW, IPPs 52, 11 MW and RPPs 62 MW.
He further appealed to power users to cooperate with PEPCO for better load-management.
While feeling sorry for the problems to consumers, the DG anticipated that load shedding would cut as soon floodwater receded and gas supply to power stations was restored.
